Multiple Locks vs. Multi-Point Latches
Articles, Multi-point latches
When researching the best security for your company's products, your indoor or outdoor enclosures, and your peace of mind, you want the best locking mechanisms available on the market. In addition, you want to ensure secure access control, ease of use, and the highest level of protection. The strength and efficacy of your security is the top priority.
The most common locks on the market are deadbolts, padlocks, and cam locks/quarter-turns. The key feature of the deadbolt is the bolt that engages the inside of the door. A piece of metal extends from the door into the frame itself, and this bolt is used to hold it closed in one designated area of the door. Regarding padlocks, there is a U-shaped shackle at the top of the lock body that is designed to fit into a bracket on either the door lock, or between the door and frame. When the padlock's locking mechanism engages and clicks into place, the shackle will now be unable to leave the lock's body. This would prevent a user from either operating the handle or opening the door, depending on the bracket style and location. Finally, with cam locks or quarter-turns, the lock consists of a metal lever/pawl, often called a cam, attached to the locking device's core. Actuating the lock rotates the cam between a locked and unlocked position, often behind the frame of the enclosure.
While deadbolts, padlocks, and cam locks or quarter-turns are all excellent locking options, DIRAK, Inc. supplies multi-point locking systems. What is a multi-point locking system? Multi-point lock systems are locking systems that provide multiple points of latching operated by a single actuation point. Whereas the other locks mentioned provide single actuation points, they cannot offer more than one point of latching and locking unless more than one lock is installed at more than one location on the door. DIRAK's multi-point locking system can contain as many as 5 latching points. With multiple latching points, the system provides additional security, clamping force, ease of use, and access to the products in which it is installed. DIRAK's multi-point locks ensure that your doors are securely closed and locked at more than one point, providing you with peace of mind that any access to your enclosure is given with the utmost security and protection. In addition, our multi-point locks can be seamlessly integrated into our various quarter-turns, swinghandles, T- handles, and L- handles.
